1000 Islands Community Development Corporation
The 1000 Islands Community Development Corporation is a community based, non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors and staffed by a small team of dedicated professionals.
Much of our funding is generously provided by the Government of Canada’s Federal Development Agency For Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
We provide support to businesses, individuals, not-for-profit agencies, community groups and municipalities in the following manner.
- Business loans and access to capital.
- Counselling and mentoring of small businesses.
- Business information and planning services.
- Support for community based projects.
- Partnering with like minded agencies.
- Referrals to public and private funding opportunities.
- Assisting community planning and local economic development efforts.
- Information on local business service providers.

Michael Barrett is a dedicated elected representative in his fourth term and is the Conservative Shadow Minister for Ethics and Accountable Government for His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.
In this critical role, he advocates for transparency, integrity, and accountability in government.
His commitment to these principles is further demonstrated through his active participation on the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy, and Ethics.
Before his career in the House of Commons, Michael served our country in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Telecommunications Lineman, learning a skilled trade and participating in training, domestic operations, and disaster assistance.
Following his service in the Armed Forces, he contributed at the local level as a Municipal Councillor in the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal, where he was known for being a champion of community issues.
In addition, Michael brings valuable experience from the private sector, where he worked as a Human Resources Manager, developing a deep understanding of workforce dynamics and the importance of ethical leadership.
Michael’s journey from serving in the military, to local government, and now as a federal representative, exemplifies his unwavering dedication to public service.
His experience across various levels of government and sectors provides him with a unique perspective that he brings to his current role, advocating for the rights and interests of his constituents with passion and integrity.
Michael and his wife Amanda are proud residents of Leeds-Grenville, where they are raising their five children: Luke, Ama, Michaela, James, and Nathan.
Steve Clark, MPP - Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes
Steve Clark was first elected MPP for Leeds-Grenville in a March, 4, 2010, by-election. It was a landslide victory, with MPP Clark winning 66 percent of the vote.
He was subsequently re-elected five times in 2011, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2025.
In 2018, the riding name changed from Leeds-Grenville to Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.
In addition to his role as MPP, Steve currently serves as Government House Leader and Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
Steve gained attention across Canada in 1982 when, at the age of 22 and just out of university, he was elected Mayor of the City of Brockville. This gained him the title of Youngest Mayor of Canada and a notation in the Who’s Who of Canada. Steve served three terms as mayor and, during his tenure, was also the President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Steve also worked in the media and Internet development with the Brockville Recorder and Times newspaper and RipNet.
Following this, Steve served as the executive assistant for the highly respected long-serving Leeds-Grenville MPP Bob Runciman.
Prior to his election as Leeds-Grenville MPP, Steve was the Chief Administrative Officer for the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands.
Steve also boasts forty years of community volunteerism. Some of the many groups and committees he has served with are St. Lawrence Lodge, the Brockville Braves hockey club and the Brockville and Area YMCA. He is also a Past President of the Rotary Club of the 1000 Islands and was the founding chairman of the 2007 Leeds-Grenville International Plowing Match and Country Festival.
Steve is married to Deanna. Together they are the proud parents of a blended family of five and have six grandchildren.
City of Brockville
The City of Brockville is an upper tier municipality. Mayor and City Council set the direction for the municipality through regular council and committee meetings and hire the City Manager. The City Manger directs staff and oversees the City’s departments and functions.
Internal staff make up the core City Services and include administration, customer service, human resources, clerk, finance and treasury, economic development, planning, building, bylaw enforcement, engineering, water supply and treatment, wastewater and sewer systems, solid waste (garbage, recycling, and composting), geographic information systems, cultural services (including Tourism, the Brockville Arts Centre and Brockville Museum), city transit and Brockville airport, public works, parks, harbour, campground, city islands, arenas, cemetery, and other outdoor city athletic fields and trail system.
Brockville also has its own Fire Department and Police Services, and a beautiful public library.
Certain services are shared between the City and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville through a shared services agreement, such as housing and Emergency Medical Services.
