What has the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce done for their members in 2018

What has YOUR Chamber done for you lately, you ask?  Well, we were quite busy in 2018! Have a look below at this list of many (but not all) of the Chamber activity over this past year.

  • EIGHT very successful Business After 5 networking events, complimentary to attend, almost always attracting more than 75 members to each event.
  • Providing sponsorship opportunities to members that recognize your business as a key supporter of the event via website, radio and newspaper; presenting your company name and logo on the invitation; allowing your representatives the opportunity to distribute brochures or promotional items (at the After 5’s); Providing recognition at the event as a sponsor; Offering you the opportunity to showcase your business, address the guests and promote your business with door prizes.
  •  Held a Business Trade Show at the Brockville Convention Centre
  • Held our First Ever “Golf Experience” providing an opportunity for EVERYONE to enjoy a day of golf and activities – not just those who favour the sport.
  • Held our inaugural “Hot Stove” event – thanks to the support of Dan Thompson, Jeff Severson and the entire 2018 Golf Committee.
  • Presented a “Mayors Update Breakfast”
  • Presented a “MP Update Breakfast”
  • Presented a “MPP Update and Breakfast”
  • The 59th Annual Awards of Excellence Gala in which our friends, neighbours and business associates are recognized
  • The Annual Christmas Cocktail held this year at Fulford Academy
  • A Cannabis workshop in association with EEC
  • Successfully ran the Brockville Tourism Office
  • Advocated on behalf of Tourism in the ongoing MAT tax negotiations
  • A Fall Boat Cruise with Rockport Cruise Lines
  • A Provincial Election Debate
  • A Municipal Election Debate
  • A Federal By-Election Debate
  • Provided a workshop on “Managing an Effective Instagram Account” with the EEC
  • Provided a workshop “Orientation to Public Service” to enlighten those considering running for public office.
  • through our partnership with the Ontario Chamber, we have supported economic growth in Ontario by defending business priorities at Queen's Park
  • organized bus trip to see Ottawa Senators
  • Provided added recognition to those who participated in the Chamber Banner
  • Provided an opportunity for website advertising
  • Provided an opportunity to reach 1100+ through our mass email program
  • Recognized Bob Runciman as the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Winner
  • Interacted with every single member on at  least one occassion - updating business logos and information on your personal Chamber Pages.
  • Have been diligent in keeping members updated on Bill 148
  • Have repeatedly posted literatrure to keep members update on Bill 47, "Making Ontario Open For Business Act, 2018," which will repeal numerous provisions of the previous government’s "Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017  (Bill 148)".
  • Set up linkages between City Admin and Chamber Admin to help with Economic Development issues
  • We are one of only 32 Chambers in all of Canada that has achieved Accreditation with Distinction!
