Chamber News
As of November 5th, the following changes will take place:
-Collection will take place over five days per week instead
of the current 4 days
-Monday and Tuesday collection areas remain unchanged as far
as collection day
-Wednesday collection will take place in the down town
business area (for residents and businesses)
-Thursday and Friday collection remains unchanged (except
for the former Thursday and Friday areas within the downtown business
area. These will move to Wednesday – please see attachment for zone
descriptions)
-All recycling will be collected every week and does not
need to be separated anymore (Glass, metal, plastic, paper and cardboard goes
together)
-One collection truck will be used to collect both garbage
and recycling (trucks have split compartments one for garbage and the other for
recycling)
In the event of holidays occurring on or before Wednesday, the collection day will push to Thursday.
The benefits to this are:
-One day of garbage collection in the DBIA as opposed to two
-Fewer heavy trucks on the road to collect waste.
-Simpler recycling participation.
Calendars are attached and on-line at http://city.brockville.on.ca/solidwasteregulations/, and will also be printed in the EMC the last two weeks of October and the first week of November ; hard copies are available at City Hall as well. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Chris Wood
