Volunteerism Creates WIN-WIN Scenarios

April 2, 2007

One of the key elements to the vibrancy of our community is its impressive number and caliber of volunteers. Every year we have reason to be proud of the many fundraising initiatives and community events that make our community successful. And so it is for the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce. We rely on over 50 members of business community annually to donate their time and expertise to our mission, 'to foster a competitive business environment in the Brockville region that benefits the people of this region through the growth of jobs, wealth and quality of life.' These volunteers work together on a number of committees and task groups led by a volunteer board of directors to ensure the interests of the business community are addressed and new business development is cultivated. As well, several committees focus on ways to support member businesses through various exclusive services including discount and benefit programs and networking, marketing and training opportunities. These volunteers understand that through the Chamber they can have a positive impact on the future prosperity of community.

In turn, as a volunteer you become involved at a new level in projects that are aligned with your personal or professional interests. Often, you learn new information and develop skills you may not usually get to test. Always, you meet new people and build trust relationships with people from all sectors, ages and stages that you will have at least with one thing in common with; a dedication to making a difference. Volunteering is an excellent way to build your network and add an element of excitement and enthusiasm to your life.

The Chamber is grateful to the numerous members of the business community for their commitment. Literally, we couldn't do it without you. If you have an interest in getting connected and more involved as a member of the Chamber we have many opportunities to create a win-win scenario; matching your interest and available time with the needs of the organization. Until then, keep on giving . . . for your own and the community's continued success.
