Committees - Membership in Action
The Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer based organization in which members sit on various committees to explore and address issues of importance to the local business community. A large portion of the work is performed by the committee members and the Chamber staff assists in facilitating and carrying out the plans. Ad Hoc committees are formed as needed and there are 7 standing committees that meet on a regular basis. They are as follows:

Executive Committee

This Committee will consist of the President, Past President, 2 Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Corporate Secretary. This Committee is responsible for addressing administrative and budgetary emergencies, appointing members to standing and special committees and assessing annual achievements.

Finance Committee
|
This Committee will address financial issues including but not limited to budgeting, financial reporting, purchasing policy, membership fee review and premises.

Advocacy & Economic Development Committee
This Committee will monitor and positively influence municipal affairs including taxation, government spending and regulations, as well as, any matter relating to business retention and expansion.

Tourism Committee
|
This Committee will provide vision and annual planning for the delivery of tourism in the area. This Committee addresses marketing, visitor services and operator services and will represent the Chamber at various tourism related events.

Membership Committee
|
This Committee will address the functions that are described in value added services and set the direction for membership growth. The Committee will also monitor the Chamber's effectiveness in providing information to businesses and about business in the area. These Committee members will focus on being Chamber ambassadors.

Programming Committee
|
This Committee will review, monitor and recommend Chamber revenue producing projects and initiatives. This Committee will have a number of sub committees for special events, such as the Awards Gala and Golf Tournaments.

Nominating Committee
| This Committee consists of two Executive Committee members, two Directors and a selection from the membership. This Committee is responsible for seeking and recommending members for the Board of Directors to ensure appropriate representation and a solid succession plan.

Chamber Ambassadors
|
The primary role of the Ambassador is to welcome and orientate new members, engage current members and facilitate member to member networking and business. The information gathered by these individuals will open additional channels of communication between the Chamber executives and the membership. This program will assist in retention of new and existing members through personal contact and ability to requests for input on Chamber programs.
