It was recently the pleasure of the Board of Directors of the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce to recognize the outstanding achievements of the individuals, organizations and businesses in our community through the Awards of Excellence program.  We are grateful to the nominees and award recipients for their ongoing contributions to our region’s prosperity and quality of life.  For those who attended the award presentations, it was exciting to learn about what is going on in our community and witness the energy in the room.  The sense of community and the commitment to its success was evident not only by those we were honouring but by the 240 enthusiastic attendees, 15 generous sponsors and numerous amazing Chamber volunteers, staff and businesses who worked together to do justice to this celebration of excellence.

The annual awards program is but one opportunity for each of us as stakeholders in our community’s success to reflect on the role we can play in sustaining our future and enhancing our quality of life.  Everyone contributes at different levels at different times but there is one ideal we can all adhere to throughout the year that has a big impact – buying local.  The Chamber continues to encourage community members and businesses to buy local whenever possible.  This is a topic we bring to the forefront every year at this time but it is especially relevant this year as our businesses manage changes caused by the rising dollar.  We never tire of reminding you that our local businesses provide jobs, pay taxes and support charitable causes.  Also, you can expect a variety of product offerings, competitive pricing, exceptional service and after purchase care.  Enjoy what our community has to offer with many special events, holiday decorating and extended hours of business.
